Fred J. “Sonny” Treptow, 85, of Whitman, passed away on Wednesday August 10th surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Angeline R. (D’Arpino) Treptow.
He was born and brought up in Whitman, son of the late Fred C. and Gladys (Jackman) Treptow.
Sonny has been a lifelong resident of Whitman. He worked locally, as a carpenter, building houses for many years. He served his country in the United States Navy, during the Korean War.
He enjoyed his scratch tickets, trapping muskrats, tending to his vegetable garden and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his eight children, Diane Thomson and her husband Tom of Bridgewater, Carol Svizzero and her husband Dominic of Hanson, Judith Hodgkins of ME, Janet DeCosta and her husband Kevin of ME, Gail Cavicchi of Hanson, Fred Treptow and his wife Valerie of FL., Lisa Sweeney and her husband Jack of Whitman and Dennis Treptow and his wife Lisa of ME., his sister Carol Sprague of Brockton; also lovingly known as Gubby to his twenty grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Marjorie LaValley, Patricia Murrill and Dorothy Enos.
His funeral services will be held on Monday August 15th at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be on Sunday August 14th from 4:00-8:00PM.
