CHICOPEE – Wilfred L. “Bill” Tisdell, 82, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home on Grattan Street in Aldenville on June 25, 1934, the beloved son of the late Louis N. Tisdell and Antoinette Rose (Boisvert) Tisdell. He was raised in Aldenville, graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee. He later furthered his education and attended Holyoke Community College. He was employed for over 30 years as a shipping and receiving clerk at Savage Arms in Chicopee and Westfield where he was a longtime Union Steward. In 2001, Bill was appointed to the Chicopee Council on Aging and served as the Senior Member until resigning due to health issues. Bill was known to always speak his mind on an issue and was a fierce advocate for our senior citizens. He served on the Chicopee Senior Center Building Committee and was a member of the Friends of the Senior Center. Each month, he would travel to Stop and Shop to gather flowers for the tables at the Senior Center monthly birthday celebrations. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Most of all, he was a hard-working man who always provided for his family. In addition to his beloved parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Helen H. (Eichhorn) Tisdell who was Called Home on May 20, 2002. They were married on September 4, 1954 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 47 years of happiness together. He leaves his four loving children, David A. Tisdell, Michael L. Tisdell and his wife, Susan, and Lori A. Tisdell, all of Chicopee and James E. Tisdell and his wife, Paula, of Belchertown; his five cherished grandchildren, Gayle Vassallo and her husband, Patrick, Michael S. Tisdell, Jocelyn Brannan and her husband, Kevin, Zachary Tisdell and Ryan Tisdell; his two cherished great-grandchildren, Toni Vassallo and Dominic Vassallo; and his longtime companion, Fran Moreau of Springfield. His funeral will be held on Monday morning, August 15, 2016, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (the funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, August 14, 2016 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
