Sidney B. Wood, 80, of Westport Point and Dedham, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Norwood with his loving wife by his side. He was the husband of Alice A. (Worth) Wood, they were married for 54 years.
Mr. Wood was born in Pawtucket, RI, son of the late Arnold and Hazel (Poignand) Wood. He had resided in Dedham for most of his life and in 1954, started spending his Summers in Westport Point. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an accountant for Putnam Mutual Funds, Boston. Mr. Wood was a member of the Dedham Horse Thieves, the Dedham School Committee and the Westport Point United Methodist Church. He loved boating and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors along with his wife include his 2 sons: Thomas B. Wood and his wife Shawn of Dedham and David A. Wood and his wife Sharon of Walpole; his 2 daughters: Kathleen D. Black and her husband Charles of Beckinridge, CO and Susan A. Wood and her husband Peter James of Lancaster, MA; sister-in-law: Cynthia Wood of ME; 13 grandchildren; and 2 nieces.
He was the brother of the late Robert A. and Steven N. Wood.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Westport Point United Methodist Church, 1912 Main Rd., Westport Point, MA 02791 at 9:30 A.M.
Interment to follow in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
