Obituary



Robert E Griffin passed away at the Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Saturday, August 6th. He was 80. Raised in Charlestown and a long-time resident of South Medford, Bob was the son of the late Robert F. and Mildred (Kerr) Griffin. Bob was the beloved husband of Joan (Blackburn) Griffin who passed away in 1996.

Robert worked for many years as a logistics supervisor for the Massachusetts Envelope Co. in Somerville, before his retirement. He was active in Boston Park League Baseball as a right fielder, in his younger years. A devoted husband and father, Bob dedicated much of his spare time to the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps. He volunteered with the group for many years and was honored in 2007 by being inducted into the group’s Hall of Fame.

The loving father of Tara and Sean, he was a devoted grandfather to Megan and Alyson Landry. He was the brother of William F. Griffin, and Karen A. Griffin. He is predeceased by his siblings: Gerald and Kevin Griffin, Evelyn Kerr and Judith Wilkins.

Relatives and friends may visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Sunday August 14th from 4 – 7 PM and again on Monday morning at 9 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
