Wynelle Hobbs Edwards, 85, of Tifton passed away Monday, August 8, 2016, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at New River Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Gerald Purvis officiating. A eulogy will be given by Michael Marchant. Mrs. Edwards will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 10, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at New River Baptist Church in Tifton.
Jeremy Hobbs, Andrew Grimes, Gator Walker, Russ Flowers, Greg Hobbs and Jeff Hobbs will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Grimes, Drew Grimes, Brady Walker, Kason Flowers and members of New River Baptist Church in Tifton.
Born December 23, 1930 in Tifton, Mrs. Edwards was the daughter of the late Alonzo Hobbs and Louise Bishop Hobbs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edwards; a brother, William Hobbs; and a daughter-in-law, Jane Grimes. She retired from Southern Bell, where she started working in 1946, and was an active member of New River Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by two sons, Dudley Grimes of Texas and Philip Grimes of Tifton; a daughter, Melanie Grimes of Tifton; three grandchildren and their spouses, Mandy and Gator Walker, Brandi and Russ Flowers and Andrew and Lauren Grimes, all of Tifton; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brady, Kason, Drew, Will, Mallory Jane and Parker; and a brother, Wayne Hobbs of Tifton.
The family would like to express a special "thank you" to Mrs. Edward's caregiver, Cathy Gloria Hancock, for all she did for Mrs. Edwards.
