Lenny passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center on August 6, 2016. Lenny was 87 years old.
Lenny Hackett was born and raised in New Bedford, Ma, he was the third child and second son of Owen and Margaret (Meehan) Hackett.
As a youth he attended Coyle and Cassidy High School and worked summers on the waterfront, employed as a deckhand on the ferry service to Nantucket.
After an enlistment in the Army Lenny attended the New Bedford Institute of Textiles and Technology earning a B.S. in Textile Engineering.
He owned and operated Manly Manufacturing for over 30 years and was an advocate for the textile industry in New Bedford, holding office in textile and business associations. Later he was employed as an operations manager at Klear Vu.
Lenny was married to Angela Delores DiStefano for over 55 years, raising two children Stephanie and Peter.
He was happiest spending time with his family, entertaining friends, and rooting for the Pats, Sox and Celtics.
His funeral will be Thursday morning beginning in the funeral home at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth at 9:00 A.M. Burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
