Obituary

Charlotte Jarchow Drexler, 103, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Pruitt Health in Fitzgerald.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM, Monday, August 8, 2016 at St. Williams Catholic Church in Fitzgerald with Father Paul O’Connell and the Rev. Deacon Ed Drexler officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. A Rosary will be said 6:30 PM, Sunday, August 7, 2016 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8 PM.

Mrs. Drexler was born August 9, 1912, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late William & Lottie Benzing Jarchow. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Home Demonstration Club. She loved to cook as well as sew and crochet. She was best known for her quilting. Mrs. Drexler was a longtime member of St Williams Catholic Church and was very instrumental in establishing the parish in Fitzgerald.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Bertha Davis Wright of Abbeville, Jim Drexler of Fitzgerald, Virginia Drexler Snowden of Fitzgerald, Alice Drexler McDuffie of Tifton, Ed Drexler and his wife Carolyn of Fitzgerald, Grace Caldwell and her husband Mike of Tyrone, and Johnny Drexler and his wife Sandra of Fitzgerald. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Chick” Drexler, a daughter, Joan Drexler Brown; and three grandchildren: Patsy Widener, Jimmy Drexler, and Will Robitzsch.
