Obituary

John G. Slesinski, age 57 and a resident of Bourne, Massachusetts since 1998, died on August 4, 2016 from pancreatic cancer. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1959 and graduated from Doherty Memorial High School in 1977. He then attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst as part of the Zeta Psi fraternity and was a proud member of the Class of 1981. Following his undergraduate studies, John earned a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1984. He resided with his wife and children in Redondo Beach, California until their relocation to Massachusetts in 1998.

For three decades, John found success in corporate environmental sales and development, building coast-to-coast personal and business relationships. He enjoyed relaxing in the sun while listening to music; riding bikes with his wife along the Cape Cod Canal; and watching PGA tournaments from his favorite chair. John was active in the UMass alumni community and a benefactor of UMass, USC, Boston College, and San Diego State University.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, Col. Frank Slesinski, M.D. and his wife Dorothy, formerly of Worcester and Mashpee, Massachusetts. John is survived by his college sweetheart and wife of 32 years, Lorraine Saviano, and their two children, Travis Slesinski, Psy.D. and Taylor Slesinski. He also is survived by his four older siblings: Carolyn Slesinski and her husband Michael Spivack of Mashpee; Rev. Robert Slesinski, Ph.D. of Mashpee; Frank Slesinski and his husband Rev. Neil Tadken of Monrovia, California; and Michael Slesinski, M.D. and his wife Sharon and son Michael of Fremont, California.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Tuesday August 9 at 11:00 A.M. Saint Patrick’s Church,44 East Central Street, Natick, MA, 01760. Visiting hours omitted. Memorial donations may be made to the McCarthy Care Center (73 Service Road, East Sandwich, MA 02537), a wonderful facility that made his final days comfortable and dignified.
