Ottis Karon Barton, 71, of Tifton passed away Friday, August 5, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Carpenter Road Church of God with the Rev. Salone Green and the Rev. Gordon Statum officiating. Mr. Barton will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 6, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Barton will be placed in the church at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2016, prior to the service.
Tommy Stone, Darrell Woods, Michael Lassiter, Faron Johnson, Donnie Purvis and Greg Henry will serve as pallbearers.
Born October 13, 1944 in Tifton, Mr. Barton was the son of the late Early Hares Barton and Etta Louise Bledsoe Barton. He was also preceded in death by a son, Tim Smith; four sisters; and two brothers. He was a professional paint contractor and a member of Carpenter Road Church of God. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in Vietnam.
Mr. Barton is survived by his wife, Jan Burch Barton of Tifton; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Stacy Van Santen-Barton of North Palm Beach, Florida; a son-in-law, Lee Waldrop of Hahira; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jana and Dusty Jackson of Tifton and Tonia Waldrop of Tifton; a brother, Harvey Barton of Tifton: a sister and brother-in-law. Ruth and Joe Marta of Tifton; a sister-in-law, Clara Barton of Fitzgerald; six grandchildren, Courtney Waldrop, Amber Waldrop, Kendall Barton, Lindsay Barton, Chase Barton and Dylan Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
