Obituary

WAYLAND: Marilyn C. (MacDermott) Bradbury, 93, formerly of Newton Lower Falls and Brighton died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 following a brief illness.
She was born in Boston on September 23, 1922 the eldest daughter of the late Alfred S. MacDermott and Julia S. (Pitts) MacDermott.

She was the beloved and devoted wife for 69 years of the late Paul W. Bradbury who died on October 16, 2015. Loving and cherished mother of Susan L. Bradbury of Natick. She was the sister of the late Alfred S. MacDermott, James MacDermott and Eleanor P. Graham. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Marilyn spent her formative years in Brighton and was a graduate of Brighton High School. She has been a resident of Newton Lower Falls for over 40 years.

She will be remembered for her collection of red check, her gift of beautiful sewing and the never ending search for a good bargain. She was a longtime communicant of St. John Parish of Wellesley Hills. She retired as the Office Manager for Guardian Services which later became Allied Creditor Services in Newton after 35 years. She was an active volunteer and was recognized for over 35 years of service to Newton Wellesley Hospital as an Emergency Room worker and clerk at the hospital Thrift Shop. She was a member of the Wellesley College Club, past-president of Executive Women of Boston and the Newton Wellesley Hospital Board of Trustees and scholarship committee. Marilyn loved to spend time cooking and was a most gracious hostess entertaining her circle of friends and extended family. The loves of her life were her husband and daughter and she will be fondly remembered and loved by all of the lives that she touched in her 93 years.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Family and friends are requested to go directly to her Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 9 Glen Road (corner of Rte. 16 and Glen Rd), Wellesley Hills on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 10:00 o’clock. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery in Newton.
