Robert T. Hester (Bob) passed away quietly at home on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Cecilia K. (Sullivan) and Patrick J. Hester, Jr. He leaves his wife, JoAnn Hester, 3 children Jason Dudley of Chandler AZ, Heather Dudley of Worcester , Nathan Dudley of Chandler AZ, grandsons, Odin and Harrison, and his beloved dog and best friend, Bailey. Bob leaves his brother Patrick Hester III of Oxford MA, and was predeceased by his younger brother Thomas Hester. He leaves a close family friend, Michael (Gramps) Cullen of Falmouth, several cousins, one who is more like a brother, Mark Hester of Sutton, and nephews and nieces.
Bob graduated from St. John’s High School and Johnson & Wales/Central New England College. He recently retired from Intel Corp where he worked for more than 30 years. Bob was a passionate New England sports fan, and attended many Patriots games. He played softball and football for years with friends that he grew up with and they managed to win many championships. Bob enjoyed most weekends, holidays and summers for the past 15 years in Falmouth MA enjoying the beaches, kayaking and biking.
His family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent’s Cancer Center, Dana Farber, and Notre Dame Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
Calling hours at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street will be held Sunday, August 7, from 4-6pm followed by a memorial service at 6pm. Burial will be held at a later date in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Mathew 25, 52 Queen Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
