Obituary

The Blessed 91 years of Marion Violet Brown

Marion Violet Brown was born in Glastonbury, Connecticut on February 7, 1925 to Eugene and Lillian (Smith) Faust. There were three children born to Eugene and Lillian, one boy and two girls: Raymond (Dickie), Marion, and Irene (Renee). Marion attended the Boston Elementary School system and Boston High School of Practical Arts. Marion was also a proud graduate of Boston Clerical School and The Boston School of Business Education.

In 1947, Marion married Julius Brown of Chicago, Illinois and after a brief stay in Chicago, moved back to Massachusetts to reside. Julius and Marion had three beautiful children: Christopher Eugene (Chris), Anthony Howard (Tony) and Juliana Marie (Julie).
While in Chicago Marion was employed as a Veterans Administration secretary. During Marion’s 30 year work history in Boston she served as a social worker for the City of Boston, and as an executive secretary at Boston University Hospital, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Marion accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age and set the tone for her families worship experience. In the early 1950’s, as a member of Charles St. A.M. E. Church, Marion served as a Boy Scout Troupe leader and actively participated in several other church committees. Marion was the caregiver to countless family members before their earthly departure. She had a caring, giving spirit that was powered by her desire to do God’s will.

In the early 60’s the family moved to Marshfield Massachusetts where Marion became a dedicated member of Marshfield United Methodist Church. After the death of her husband Marion relocated to Brockton Massachusetts to be close to her children. There, she attended the United Methodist Church of Brockton, until illness required her to move into a long term care facility.

Marion enjoyed traveling with her husband to different places and sharing these adventures with her friends. She was an avid seamstress, quilter and baker. She also enjoyed, gardening and sharing her garden with her father. Whether Marion was hosting a family event or was a guest at one, family gatherings and the mixing and melding of generations in one space was music to her ears and a prideful affirmation of her role as the family matriarch.

Marion lived to be 91 years old and had a full and blessed life. She was a breast cancer survivor who continually thanked God for his Grace to her. Marion will be missed but her legacy will continue. She leaves behind two sons, Christopher Brown (Albertha), Anthony Brown ( Deborah), son-in-law Richard King Jr. (Juliana-deceased), grandchildren, Vondell Harris, Tervell Harris, Felicia Brown, Summer Brown, Nia King, and Imani King, six great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other loved ones and friends.

Visitation and Service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 9:30am at the Pearl Street United Methodist Church, 415 Pearl Street, Brockton MA. Burial to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne Massachusetts 1:00pm.
