Obituary

Mr. David H. Wales, of Taunton, died unexpectedly in his sleep Monday, August 1 at his residence. He was born 68 years ago in Framingham, the son of the late Theo Dakin of Worcester, and the late Henry Wales of California. He was employed as a delivery driver for Yangtze China in West Bridgewater. David was very involved in Church Ministry throughout his life and was involved in 2 Musical Groups, the Messengers and the Free Souls, Director of the latter. He played guitar by ear and was a talented vocalist.

David was the former husband of Sharon R. (Hewitt) Wales of Taunton, the beloved father of Ruth Thiboutot and her husband, Gary of Taunton, and of the late John Wales of Bridgewater. He leaves 7 brothers and sisters: Benjamin Wales and his wife, Doren of New Hampshire, May Guilmette and her husband, Jerry of Townsend, Donald Daniels, Steven Dakin and Dana Dakin, all of Worcester, Margaret Holy and her husband, George of Maryland, and Gerry Wales and his wife, Pamela of California. He also leaves 3 foster brothers and sisters: Sharyn Bartlett of New Hampshire, Ken Bartlett of Virginia, and Joyce Nestel of Pennsylvania. There are 4 grandchildren: David Leighton with Denise Joyner of Taunton, James Whitaker of Taunton, and Julien and Emily Wales of West Bridgewater. Xander Leighton of Taunton is David’s only great grandson. There are many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the brother of the late Margaret “Meg” Brewer and her husband, George of Lunenberg, and Barbara Jean Bergeron, and foster brother of the late Donald Bartlett of New Hampshire.

A Memorial Service will be held at Faith Chapel, 340 Pleasant St., Bridgewater, on Sunday, August 7, at 5:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. The family will receive visitors prior to the Service, Sunday, from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. A Collation will follow the Service. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in David's memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater New England Chapter, P.O. Box 845945, Boston, Ma., 02284-5945. Arrangements are under the directions of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
