Daniel P. Tanaki, age 30, passed away on July 29, 2016. He was born on April 29, 1986in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a graduate of Chicopee High School, Class of 2004. Danny loved hockey starting at a young age and continuing into his adult years. Danny most recently played hockey at Olympia in West Springfield for the Blue Room Cafe. He loved watching his niece and nephews develop a love of the game and enjoyed watching them play. Danny loved his time in Utah and was very proud of his Tongan heritage. Danny’s smile would light up any room and was loved by all who met him. He leaves his Mother, Diane (Dobek) Tanaki of Chicopee, His father, Pita Tanakiand his Step-Mother Setaita Tanaki of Utah; his brothers Mitchell Tanaki and his wife Sarah of North Andover; Sione Tanaki of Utah, his sisters Ilemaile Tanaki, Maleini Tanaki and Amelia Tanaki all of Utah, his aunts Anne Marie Dobek and Michelle Dobek of Chicopee; 2 nephews, Benjamin and Matthew Tanaki, and 1 niece, Caitlin Tanaki, and his Godfather Roger O’Neil, and thousands of cousins in the US, Tonga, New Zealand, and Australia. ‘Ofa lahi atu. Calling hours will be held on Wed., Aug. 3, 2016 from 4 – 7 p.m. At the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Funeral Service will be held on Thurs., Aug. 4, 2016 at 10 am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Anthony of Padua Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
