Obituary

Lucia M. (Pasquale) Grande, 83, of New Bedford passed away Sunday July 31, 2016 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home after a long illness. She was the loving wife of Pantaleone W. Grande for 62 years.

Born and raised in the North End of Boston, the daughter of the late Francesco and Carolina (Navaroli) Pasquale, she lived in New Bedford for the past 54 years.

She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild.

Mrs. Grande was the former organist and choir director at St. Mary's Church in South Dartmouth and St. Francis of Assisi Church. She had a beautiful voice and was a talented and gifted pianist. Music was one of her passions, a talent she passed on to her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of the Sons of Italy, the New Bedford Choral Society, and the New Bedford Garden Club.

She was an amazing Italian cook. Nothing gave her more joy than cooking for her family and always made sure to feed anyone who visited the house.

Survivors include her husband; three children, Debby Evans and her husband William of Owego, NY, Leonard Grande and his wife Laura of Chapel Hill, NC, and Gregory Grande and his wife Denise of Attleboro; her brother, Gennaro Pasquale of Malden; six grandsons, Rory Martell and his wife Beth Coolidge, Colin Evans and his wife Jess, Keegan Evans and his girlfriend Nicole Bergmann, Nick Grande, Alexander Grande and his girlfriend Jenny Rusin, and Christopher Grande and his fiancée Katie Lewin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Carl Pasquale.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home for their loving care and kindness shown to Lucia.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4-6PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Nurse Home Care, P.O. Box 751, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
