Alice Shirley (Calnan) Smith, 82, of Medway, died August 1 in the Medway Manor, she was the wife of the late James F. Smith, Sr. who died in 2008.
Born in Medway, January 24, 1934, the daughter of the late John and Daisy (Holowell) Calnan, Mrs. Smith was a lifelong Medway resident.
Shirley had worked in the cafeteria of both Medway High School and the Burke School for many years.
She also had been a home health aide in Franklin, Bellingham and Wrentham.
She was President of the Medway V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary for 13 years.
Shirley enjoyed trips to New Hampshire, camping, shopping and crocheting.
She is survived by her children James Smith, Jr. of Medway, Theresa M. Draycott of Medway and Maureen A. Smith of Medway.
She is also survived by her siblings, Ida Struck and Mary Lahnston of Millis.
She was the sister of the late John Calnan, Ray Calnan, Estin Calnan and Hazel Ryan.
Shirley is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Stephanie Donovan, and Deborah Draycott and her great-grandchildren, Molly Bernard, Joseph Donovan, Dean Draycott, Patrick Smith, Christian Donovan, Gavin Donovan, Michael Donovan, Cora Smith and Haley Smith.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, August 4 from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
