Margaret M. Hanley (Linnett) of Canton passed away August 1st at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton surround by her loving family. Born and raised in South Boston, she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from South Boston High School. Peggy and her husband, Jim, moved to Canton in 1963 where they raised their five children. Mrs. Hanley was the secretary at St. John the Evangelist School for 35 years before retiring in 2010. She was an active member of St. John the Evangelist parish. Peggy loved to travel especially to Aruba, Florida, and Vermont. Beloved wife of James G. Loving mother of Jean M. Hanley & her husband John Beaton of Plymouth, Michael J. and his wife Judi of Belmont, Kathleen Smith & her husband Donald of Bridgewater, Maureen Hanley of Weymouth, and James G. Hanley, III & his wife Margaret of Milton. Devoted sister of Ann Belott of S. Boston, James (Buddy) Linnett & his wife Elsie of Saugus, Mae Young of S. Boston and the late Carol Berg. Also survived by her 5 cherished grandchildren & many nieces & nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, 700 Washington St. Canton Wednesday at 12 noon. Visiting hours omitted. Burial Old Calvary cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Mrs. Hanley can be made to the St. John School Foundation P.O. Box 604 Canton, MA.
