Mary E. Sullivan

Tewksbury – Mary E. Sullivan, 92, died July 31, 2016 at Peregrine’s Landing at Tewksbury after declining health over the past several months. Mary was born in Lowell, MA on October 6, 1923. She was the daughter of the late John D. and Mary E. Sullivan of Tewksbury. She was the eldest of the 12 children had by John and Mary and the matriarch of the Sullivan family until her passing.
Mary was the former Sister John Marie of the Sisters of Saint Mary who taught at the Sacred Heart School in Lowell, MA for many years. Mary left the convent in 1972 and taught in the Acton Boxborough Regional School system from 1972 – 1985.
Mary is the sister of Teresa (Sullivan) Toomey, Kevin Sullivan, Timothy (Teddy) Sullivan and his wife Judy.
She is also survived by sisters-in-law Jeannette Sullivan, Marti Sullivan and Kathy Sullivan.
Mary was predeceased by her brothers, former Tewksbury Police Chief John F. Sullivan, Harold Sullivan and his wife Ruth, Robert Sullivan and his wife Sue, Michael (Mickey) Sullivan, Chester Sullivan, and Edward Sullivan. Her sisters Dorothy (Dottie) Hodgson and her husband Tom, and Regina Patenaude and her husband Mike. Her brother-in-law, John Toomey, and her sister-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Sullivan.
She is survived by 49 nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Visitation in the Farmer and Dee Funeral Home 16 Lee St, Tewksbury on Thursday 9 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St. Tewksbury at 11 A.M. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell.
