Obituary

James A. Chauncey, 61, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, formerly of Alapaha, died Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.

Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Friday, August 5, 2016, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Pastor Randy Holt and the Rev. Allen Arowood officiating.

Mr. Chauncey was born August 1, 1954, in Homerville, Georgia to Linda Lee Williamson of Homerville and the late James B. Chauncey. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a carpenter in the trailer manufacturing industry. Mr. Chauncey enjoyed playing darts and he loved music; especially playing the drums for the Colony City Opry House band.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children: Linda Chauncey & Freddie Byrd of Fitzgerald, Jesse Lee Smith of Fitzgerald and Audrey Faith Allen of Ocilla; grandchildren: Destiny Chauncey, Christopher McDaniel, Chasity McEntyre, Emma Smith, Summer Hulett, Gauge Hulett, Paige Hulett, Kathryn Bailey, Kaylin Smith, Jesse Marie Smith, Anthony Warren Smith, Jordan Smith and Jayden Lee Smith; brothers: Richard Chauncey, Carl Chauncey and a sister: Linda Sue Reliford, all of Homerville. He is also survived by his companion, Annie Mae Watts of Fitzgerald. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother: Darrell Chauncey.
