Andover, MA – Lionel P. “Fats” Sirois, 93 of Andover, died Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Lionel was born in Lawrence on March 23, 1923, the son of Honore and Alvine (Ouellette) Sirois. He was a lifelong Andover resident. Mr. Sirois received his education in the Lawrence schools and soon thereafter met and married his best friend of 72 years, Ellen B. “Eileen” (O’Brien) Sirois. He proudly served his country during World War II as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy. For many years, he worked as a carpenter for various construction companies until his retirement.
Lionel was a Communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Andover. He was a member of the Methuen VFW Post 8349 and the Carpenter’s Union Local 111 for 75 years. In his free time, he loved camping in his motor home and spending time in his workshop.
Lionel is survived by 4 sons, Thomas Sirois and his wife, Doris, of Westford, Michael Sirois and his wife, Joan, of Methuen, Gary Sirois and his wife, Verna, of Haverhill, and Daniel Sirois and his wife, Anne of Nashua, NH.; his sister, Isabelle Mailloux of Andover; 7 grandchildren, Erin, Matthew, Jennifer, Jason, Danielle, Geoffrey, and Megan; 6 great-grandchildren; Nathan, Colin, Liam, Lilly, Madison, and Lucy; several nieces and nephews; 4 step grandchildren Todd, Michelle, Sarah, and Shawn; and 3 step great-grandchildren Jessica, Kyle, and Owen.
His Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in Saint Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Road in Andover with burial to follow in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
Friends will be warmly received on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
