Valentina (Theodhoraqi) Varfi, 62, of Worcester, died Friday, July 29th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home with her loving family by her side. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Kostandin Varfi; her two daughters, Eva Varfi and her husband, Alban Metohu, Orieta Kristo and her husband, Jonel; her parents, Vasil and Margarita (Papakristo) Theodhoraqi; a brother, Ilia Theo and his wife, Magdalena, her sister, Ollga Dymi and her husband, Xhimi and four grandchildren, Klaidi and Kalvin Metohu and Daniel and Ari Kristo all of Worcester, two nieces and a nephew.
She was born in Postenan, Albania, and came to Worcester in 1995. Mrs. Varfi had worked as a translator for the Family Health Center for many years, and was very well known in the Albanian community by virtue of the many families she had helped over the years. Prior to coming to Worcester Valentina had worked as a nurse in Albania, She was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church. Mrs. Varfi loved singing, but her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered by all by her ever-present, beautiful smile, She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
Her funeral is Tuesday, August 2nd from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with her service at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, August 1st from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
