Obituary

Leo F. “Mickey” Chassey, Ret. BFD, age 88, of New Port Richey, FL died of natural causes on Friday, July 15, 2016. He was the loving husband of Joanne (DeChambeau) Chassey, and the late Mary (Melanson) Chassey. Born and raised in Brockton, son of the late Theophile and Cora (Perrault) Chassey, Mickey retired to New Port Richey, FL in 1992. He was a 30 year veteran of the Brockton Fire Department where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow firefighters and friends… especially his late brother Armand Chassey, also a 30 year veteran of the Brockton Fire Department.

He was a Navy veteran, avid golfer, 3rd degree Knight of Columbus and a devoted Boston sports fan. He enjoyed a lively game of golf with his pals and rooting for his New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He and his wife Joanne were frequent travelers where they enjoyed cruising, dancing and playing poker.

Mickey is also survived by his sons Michael of Lakeville and Mark of East Taunton; daughters Carol Dependahl of HI, Pamela and her partner Paul Bowers of Scituate; daughter-in-law Margaret (Gambale) Chassey; step-sons, David Reid, and Daren Marshall and a step-daughter Debra (Marshall) Henry. He was “Grampa” to his grandchildren, Jason, Elizabeth and Emma Chassey, Katie Henry, Deanna and Darne Marshall, Kevin and Becky Reid; brother of Madeline Varrieur of Atlanta, GA, and is fondly remembered as “Uncle Mick” to many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Philip, Charles, Roland and Armand Chassey.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton on Saturday August 6, 2016 from 9:30am to 11:30am followed by a funeral Service at 11:30am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in his name to the Brockton Fire Museum, 216 North Pearl St., Brockton, MA 02301, or the charity of your choice.
