Obituary


Chester D. Donadio, of Lexington formerly of Medford and Burlington passed away peacefully, July 27, 2016, at the Pine Knoll Nursing Center in Lexington surrounded by his loving family. He was 95 years of age. Chester was the beloved husband of the late Carmela P. (Cataldo). Born in Boston he was the son of the late Gabriel and Angelina (Santoro) Donadio.

Chester was raised and educated in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. He worked for many years in the family business, Don's Mattress Service Inc. of Boston, owning and operating the business for 35 years prior to his retirement. He was also a talented musician and entertainer. He learned to play the guitar from his uncle as a young boy and for many years ran the Don Chester Orchestra playing at the Fantasia Restaurant in Cambridge and many other venues in and around the Boston area. Chester loved spending time by ocean and enjoyed boating. He was gifted with a green thumb and enjoyed gardening and sharing his harvest with family and friends. Chester was a true handyman and enjoyed working on projects around his home and helping his family whenever needed. His greatest joy was his family and he will be forever remembered for his hard work, compassion and being a great provider.

He is survived by his devoted children, Angela Aloisi and husband Robert Sr., Marie DiChiara and husband Joseph, all of Burlington, Gabriel Donadio and wife Valerie of Medford. He was the loving grandfather of Robert Aloisi Jr. and wife Lisa, Kimberly Wheelock and husband Bruce, all of Burlington, Adam DiChiara and wife Kelly of Holliston, Jason DiChiara and wife Catherine of CT, Gabriel Donadio and wife Becky of Stoneham, Carrie Ann Carter and husband Stephen of Malden, June Doherty and husband Matt of Burlington. Loving great grandfather of Robert Aloisi III, Zachary Aloisi, Cameron and Ethan Wheelock, Abbey and Genevieve DiChiara, Emma Donadio, Ryan Cohn, Stephanie and Stephen Carter, Joey DeLuca, Jordan, Sophie, and Jack Joyce, Freddy Parziale, Isobel Doherty, Olivia and Lucy Petersen. Brother of Marguerite Guerrera of Onset, June Gold of Woburn, the late Janette Filosi and Carmella Yebba. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday, August 1st, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Margaret Church, 109 Winn St., Burlington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Chester's memory to the Pine Knoll Nursing Center, c/o Resident Activity Fund, 30 Watertown St., Lexington, MA 02420.
