Maria Imaculada Almas, of Medford, formerly of Somerville passed away, after a long and enduring fight with cancer in her home on July 27th. She was 55. Imaculada was born in St. Michaels, Azores, Portugal. She was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Conceicao (Moreira) Almas. After immigrating to the United States in 1967, she attended Somerville City Schools. She worked for many years on the housekeeping staff at Cambridge Hospital. Imaculada was a devout fan of Elvis Presley.
Imaculada is the devoted mother of Ryan Cullen of Derry, NH. She is the loving grandmother of Liam John. She is the cherished sister of Manuel Almas and his wife Fatima, Fatima Raposo and her husband Renato, Daniel Almas and his wife Fatima, Carlos Almas and his wife Marie, Fernando Almas, Lubelia Rainha and her husband Antonio, Cidalia Ryan and her husband William, and Helena Paquette and her husband Dan, and the late Jose Raposo. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Joshua.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Saturday, July 30th, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 9 to 11 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
