William Russell Quattlebaum, Sr.
Augusta, GA – William Russell Quattlebaum, Sr. (Will), beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, went home to be with his Lord on July 26, 2016, at his residence. His son and daughter-in-law (William, Jr. and Kristie Quattlebaum) were with him when he passed from this life to his eternal home in heaven, and for that we praise our Lord.
Mr. Quattlebaum was born in Johnston, SC, to James Henry and Willie Mae Hazel Quattlebaum on November 22, 1928. He attended Richmond Academy and served in the United States Navy. He was employed by the National Cash Register Company in his earlier years. In 1961, he began his employment with Continental Can Company and remained there until his retirement from Federal Paper Board Company, Inc. as paymaster in December of 1989. He was a member of The Augusta Jaycees and a volunteer with Junior Achievement.
The passing of our “Deeda” leaves a void that will never be filled here on earth. He loved his family passionately and deeply and was a selfless man, always concerned and focused on his family's welfare. We will miss him desperately, but know that he is completely healed and joins the rest of his family in heaven.
Family members include his son: William Russell Quattlebaum, Jr, (Kristie) of Evans, GA; daughter Barbara Guy Gray (Bill), LaGrange, GA; grandchildren: Mandy Gray Daniel (Jason), LaGrange, GA; William Russell Quattlebaum, III (Mary Katherine), Charlotte, NC; Michael Gordon Gray, Opelika, AL; Sarah Elizabeth Quattlebaum, Pineville, LA; Jason Russell Quattlebaum, Evans, GA; nine great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Quattlebaum was preceded in death by Betty Sue Quattlebaum, his wife of 64 years; Annie Quattlebaum Shealy and Hazel Quattlebaum, sisters; James H. Quattlebaum, Joe B. Quattlebaum, and Marvin Ansel Quattlebaum, brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
A graveside service will be Friday, July 29, 2016, 10:00 A.M. at Westover Memorial Park, Augusta, GA. The family will receive friends both before and after the service.
