Catherine “Bernice” Sullivan, age 86 passed away peacefully on July 25, 2016. Catherine was born in Lawrence to the late Russell and Rose (O’Neill) Murphy. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1948 and a former communicant of St. Monica’s Parish of Methuen. Catherine adored her family, they meant the world to her.
Catherine was the beloved wife of the late James D. Sullivan Jr. She was the devoted mother of James D. Sullivan III and his late wife Ileen F. of Salem, NH, William L. Sullivan and his wife Susan of Dracut, Maureen R. McGilvreay and her husband John P. of Londonderry, NH and the late Daniel P. Sullivan. Mrs. Sullivan was the dear sister of Laurence Murphy, Paul J. Murphy and his wife Ruth, Elizabeth Smith and the late Clare Murphy, the late Russell Murphy, the late Bernard Murphy, the late Charles Murphy and the late Arlene Hillard. Catherine was the loving grandmother of Kathryn Sullivan, Julia Sullivan and her husband Larry Dussault, Maura Sullivan, and the late Margaret Sullivan, Lynn Sullivan, Patti Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan Jr. and his girlfriend Jennie Rehrmann, Michael Sullivan and his wife Kara, T.J. Sullivan and his wife Shari, Erich McGilvreay and his wife Colleen, Kerri McGilvreay-Reale and her husband John, Shannon Campaniello and her husband Nick. She was the cherished great grandmother of Ellie Pyle, Gracie Sullivan, Gavin Sullivan, Harper Sullivan, Emma McGilvreay, Liam McGilvreay, Lucy Campaniello, Alex Reale, and Quinn Reale. Catherine is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 9:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence St. Methuen. Those wishing to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Interment to follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery of Lawrence.
