Obituary

Daniel "Dan" James Rapoza, 91, passed away at Taunton Nursing Home on July 24th 2016.
Husband of the late Constance "Cris" (Gouveia) Rapoza and son of the late John and Angelina (Pacheco) Raposa, he was born, raised, and educated in Raynham.
A proud veteran, Dan served his country during World War II, in the United States Navy Armed Guard. Upon discharge, he worked at Albert Shoe Mfg. for 17 years, then owned and operated the former Gouveia's Market until 1973.
In 1974, he joined Hodgman Manufacturing remaining there for 10 years, while also working as a projectionist at Raynham Drive-In Theater.
Dan took a position with the Taunton Water Department in 1984 and retired in 1990.
Over the next 14 years he worked part-time at Dewey's Service Station until the station closed. A communicant of Annunciation of the Lord church, he was a member of the V.F.W. Post 611 and the Taunton Rifle and Pistol Club for over 40 years.
Dan is survived by his children Daniel J. Rapoza and Patti Medas both of Taunton, a brother Charles Raposa of West Yarmouth, three grandchildren Michelle Medas and Kevin Medas Jr. both of Taunton and Lori (Rapoza) Williams of Lakeville, four great-grandchildren Tyara Souza, Kevin Cayden "KC" Medas, Camerin Williams and Aubriana Marie Medas, and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late George Rapoza.
The Rapoza family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Taunton Nursing Home for the loving care and respect Dan received during his multiple admissions.
His funeral will be held from Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway Taunton at 9 a.m. on Saturday July 30th, funeral mass at 10 a.m. at Annunciation of the Lord church with burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery immediately following.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling hours from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday July 29th.
