Halifax – Laura R. (Thompson) Sayce 88, died Friday July 22 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of sixty-five years to the late Charles E. Sayce, Jr.
Born in Avon and raised in Whitman she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Louis (Whynock) Thompson and a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1945.
Before her move to Halifax eighteen years ago Laura had been a longtime resident of Hanson and a familiar face having worked for over ten years in the cafeteria of the Maquan School.
She enjoyed sewing, spending time outdoors in her gardens and her family.
She is survived by her children Daniel Sayce and his wife Janice of Maine, Janet Arsenault and her husband Terry of Plymouth and Jayne Johnson of East Bridgewater, her siblings Ralph Thompson of Marshfield formerly of Braintree, Madeline Lindberg of Wellfleet and Gwen Vallencourt of FL. She is also survived by five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter.
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday July 26 at 12:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
