Obituary

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the children and grandchildren of Ralph W. Ouimette, age 88, share his passing on July 20, 2016. He was born in Springfield on June 7, 1928 to the late Ralph and Frances (Keating) Ouimette. Ralph was a Korean War Era Veteran serving in the US Army. He was a former member of St Patrick Church in Chicopee. He was a former upholsterer for Hampden Furniture before working for the USPS for over 35 years retiring around 1985. Ralph was a longtime resident of Chicopee until 2008 when he moved to live with his daughter Michelle in Granby. He loved history and photography. Ralph was an avid NY Giants fan and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame’s #1 fan. He leaves 1 son Ralph Ouimette of Granby, 4 daughters Doris Schwarzbach and her husband Otto of Germany, Mary Arnold and her husband Charles of Richland, PA, Michelle Ouimette of Granby and Monica Weaver and her husband Robert of Granby; 7 grandchildren Patricia, Sven, Alicia, Danny, Ashleigh, Krista and Kari and 1 great grandchild Johannes. A Memorial Service will be held on Wed July 27, 2016 at 12:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee with burial to follow at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Calling Hours will be held on Wed July 27, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home. The family wish to thank the staff at the Soldiers Home for their kindness, compassion and excellence in care at the Soldiers Home.
