Obituary

Whitman – Michael T. Glynn 84, died surrounded by his loving family on Friday July 22 after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of thirty-nine years to the late Mary “Maureen” Glynn.

Born and raised in Kilrush Co. Clare in Ireland he was the son of the late Desmond and Mary (McMahon) Glynn and a graduate of Black Rock College of Dublin, Ireland

Michael came to the United States in the late 1950’s and had served two years in the US Army, stationed in Germany.

Prior to his retirement Michael had worked for over thirty years in management for American Airlines.

Michael was a longtime resident and familiar face in the Whitman community, where he along with his wife Maureen raised their six children. He was an active member of the Whitman K of C and a longtime communicant of the Holy Ghost Church.

He enjoyed golf and loved to travel, returning to Ireland each year. He cherished the times spent surrounded by his large family and following the countless activities of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children Deirdre Wirzburger of Whitman, Maura Kilbride and her husband Kevin of Wilmington, Desmond Glynn and his wife Cindy of Pembroke, Michael Glynn and his wife Maureen of Pembroke, Brian Glynn and his wife Megan of Sutton Bay, MI and Gerald Glynn and his wife Debbie of Hanover, his siblings Naill Glynn of SC, Oonagh Dillon of Ireland and Sheelegh Oliver of England. He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren Timothy, Declan, Eamon, Allison, Ryan, Maeve, Conor, Aidan, Maeghan, Liam, Braden, Ciara and Jack as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dear friend Irene McKenzie of East Bridgewater.

His funeral service will be held Thursday July 28 at 9:45 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday July 27 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
