Whitman – Ruth Anne (Rockwell) Pattangall 73 died Friday July 22 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of 48 years to James E. Pattangall.
Born in Brockton and raised in East Bridgewater she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Marjorie (McCrillis) Rockwell and a graduate of East Bridgewater High School, Class of 1961.
Ruth Anne furthered her education earning her Associates Degree in Business and had worked for over 30 years as an insurance broker. Her career took her to several agencies including Edison Insurance of East Bridgewater and later retiring from Rodman Insurance of Needham.
She was a member of the Eastern Star where she had served as Worthy Matron.
In addition to her husband James she is survived by her children Douglas Pattangall, Sarah Kolb and her husband Nicholas of Durham, ME, Heather Pattangall of Nashua, NH and Rachel Pattangall of Whitman and her brother David Rockwell and his wife Evelyn of St. Petersburg, of FL. She is also survived by her special grandson whom she raised Andrew Kelley and her close friend and care giver Sheila Cannon as well as eight other grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three nephews.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday July 27 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. Bridget Church, Abington. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery, East Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday July 26 from 5:00-8:00 PM.
