Frances A. “Fran” (Lehan) Buckley age 83 of Brockton, died Thursday July 21, 2016 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home in Hingham after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Leo A. Buckley. Fran was born and raised in Brockton, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (McLane) Lehan and remained a lifelong resident of the city.
A 1951 graduate of Brockton High School, Fran also received a degree from Catherine Laboure School of Nursing. Her career as a registered nurse spanned many different areas of service. She was a staff nurse at the Carney Hospital and later became a supervisor, a nurse with the Brockton VNA and a public health nurse with the Brockton Board of Health and School Departments. She was also a former executive director for the Brockton Council on Aging.
In her free time, Fran enjoyed traveling, reading, walking and music. She will be remembered as being active and a generous friend to many. She was always offering encouragement and support and enjoyed sending notes and cards to her friends. She had a fondness of cats. Fran was happiest being in the company of her family and her longtime friend, Jean O’Neil.
Fran is survived by her nieces Katie Neville of Marshfield and Patricia Guillette of Brockton and her nephews John Lehan and his wife Michele of Shrewsbury, Gary Lehan of Brockton, and David Lehan and his wife Rhonda of Plymouth. She also leaves her great nieces and nephews Matthew, Alex and Nicolas Neville, Kerri Guillette, Maclaine, Alexa and Garrett Lehan and James and Stephanie Lehan. Fran was the sister of the late Edward M., John and Richard Lehan and Mary Elizabeth Kelleher.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Tuesday 4-7pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30am for a funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church at 10:30am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Donations in Fran’s name may be made to the Pat Roche Hospice Home, 86 Turkey Hill Ln., Hingham, MA 02043.
