Obituary

On July 21, 2016, Starla Kim (Parker) Walton, 57, of Abilene, passed from this world surrounded by loved ones. A graveside Memorial Service will be held at Aspermont Cemetery on Wednesday July 27th, 2016 at 10:30 a.m.

Kim was born June 2, 1959 in Aspermont, Texas to Reuben A. Parker and Ella Alice (Rash) Parker. Kim graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene with a degree in speech pathology. She then went on to teach special education and speech pathology in the Mansfield and Abilene independent school districts. She loved Mexican food and ice cream, but her very favorite was fresh tomatoes. She enjoyed watching old western movies, especially John Wayne movies and old Rawhide episodes.

Kim was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Michael Scott Parker.

She is survived by her daughter, Avery Brooklyn Walton of Abilene; step-daughters, Amanda Cardone of Little Elm, Ashley Creighton of Carrollton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dickey & Sue Parker of Aspermont, James & Carole of Abilene, Randy Parker of Aspermont; sisters and brother-in-law, June Parker Clark of Peacock, Judy & Dale Wofford of Abilene; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hendrick Hospice Care.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fayette Memorial Funeral Home of La Grange, Texas.
