Obituary

New Bedford – Ellsworth L. Kershaw, 90, of E. Freetown died July 21, 2005 after a brief illness at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the widower of Charlotte (Soule) Kershaw.

Mr. Kershaw was born in New Bedford, son of the late Albert A. and Daisy F. (Sisson) Kershaw, and resided most of his life in E. Freetown. He served in the Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant and was a veteran of WWII, receiving the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the East Freetown Congregational Christian Church. He was employed as a meat cutter at the former Tasker’s Market, New Bedford and later as a salesman for 18 years at the former Earl L. Holden, New Bedford. He was a van driver for the Freetown Council on Aging for 9 years and was the Animal Inspector for the Town of Freetown for 16 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the 5 c’s and the American Legion. He was Past President of both the Senior Citizens Club of Freetown and the Lakeville Bowling League, bowling in both Lakeville and Mattapoisett. An ardent golfer, he had 12 holes in one at various local golf courses.

Survivors include 3 nephews: David Crook of Bella Vista, AR, Gary Crook of Portland, ME and Jeffrey M. Soule of NH; and a niece: Brenda Soule-Lee of Clearwater, FL.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend:

Memorial service on Friday, August 12, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at the East Freetown Congregational Christian Church, 2 Washburn Road, E. Freetown.

Interment service at the Long Plain Cemetery, Acushnet on Monday, August 15, 2005 at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Freetown Council on Aging, 227 Chace Road, E. Freetown, MA 02717.
