Mr. Richard F. Lane, Jr. a resident of Woburn for over sixty years, passed away peacefully, July 21, 2016, at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton following a brief illness. He was 88 years of age. Richard was the beloved husband of Mary T. (Schwamb), together they shared 64 years of marriage. Born in Boston, he was one of four sons of the late Richard F. and Julia C. (Kiernan) Lane.
Richard was raised and educated in Arlington. Following high school, he began working for the telephone company and remained there for nearly fifty years prior to his retirement. Richard enjoyed golfing and freshwater fishing in his leisure time. However, his greatest joy was his family. He was totally devoted to providing for his wife and growing family, making sure they had everything they needed. He especially cherished his role as a grandfather and greatly enjoyed being a part of their lives and was so proud of their many accomplishments. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children; Mary S. Lane of Woburn, Carol Lane and Robert Kendall of Lynn, Barbara Stone and her husband Doug of Littleton, Richard Lane and his wife Rhonda of Leominster, Bernard Lane and his wife Tracy of Littleton. He was the loving grandfather of Daniel, Michael, Christopher, Sarah, Jacklyn, Theresa, Megan and Julia. Brother of Gerard, Eugene and Bernard Lane.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Tuesday, July 26th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
