Audrey J. (Brisson) Thatcher, 83, of South Dartmouth died July 20, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Donald E. "Ducky" Thatcher.
Born in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Ernest F. and Amee E. (Curtis) Brisson, she lived in Fairhaven and South Dartmouth most of her life before moving to Beacon Hill, Boston. She moved back to South Dartmouth many years ago. She resided with her beloved son, his wife and their children, who all cared for her until her passing.
Mrs. Thatcher was formerly employed as a receptionist at Parent, McLaughlin and Nangle Accounting Firm in Boston until her retirement.
She was a volunteer for the Boston Marathon for many years, as well as countless charities. Her heart was always with the Jimmy Fund. She walked the 26.2 miles until she was 75 years old.
Survivors include her son, Tyson J. Thatcher, and his wife Jodie, of Dartmouth; and 2 grandsons, Tyson John Thatcher, II and Garret John Thatcher and his wife.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 26th at 12 Noon at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday, July 25th from 5-8 PM.
