WORCESTER-Janetta (Poghosian) Hoogasian, 73, of Worcester passed away Thursday, July 21 in Holy Trinity Nursing Center.
Her husband, Charles M. Hoogasian died in 1998. She leaves two daughters, Gayane and her husband, Ali Hanyaloglu of Lancaster and Christine Hoogasian-Gamble and her husband, Benjamin Gamble of Worcester; her mother, Gayuane (Kehayan) Poghosian; a brother, Babken Poghossian of Arizona; a sister, Zarouhi Poghosian of Worcester; two grandchildren, Ella and Lana and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Beirut, Lebanon, daughter of Haroutune Poghosian and graduated from the Armenian University and received her Master's Degree in Biology from Worcester State College.
Janetta was a lab technician for many years, retiring from UMASS Medical Center. She was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. Janetta enjoyed classical music, black and white movies, walking in her neighborhood and reading books about British Royalty. She loved cooking traditional Armenian food and spending time with her grand-daughters.
A Visiting Hour will be held Monday, July 25 in the Armenian Church of Our Savior, 87 Salisbury Street from 10 to 11AM followed by a Funeral Service in the Church at 11AM. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the church or to the American Parkinson Disease Association,72 East Concord Street, C3, Boston, MA 02118.
