Barbara was born in Elizabeth, NJ. She was raised in Lawrence, MA and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1948 and Emanuel College in 1956. She married James M. Gallagher in 1956 and resided in North Andover where they raised several children. She had a great love for life, for family, animals and a never ending sense of humor. Barbara volunteered for multiple organizations including Bread and Roses. She was parishioner of St. Michaels Parish and a Gold Star Mother.
Barbara recently resided at the The Meadows at Edgewood in North Andover due to her declining health. The Merrimack Valley Hospice House was her final place of rest surrounded by her loving family.
She is predeceased by her husband James, her son Cpl Sean Ryan Gallagher and her daughter Maureen Pare. She is survived by Brian and Nina Gallagher of Haverhill, MA; Kevin and Cindy Gallagher of Raymond, NH, James and Sandy Gallagher of Diamond Springs, CA, Michael and Glenna Gallagher of Derry, NH and Tara and Arthur Hanrahan III of Haverhill, MA. She leaves behind twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and Eileen E. Monahan, sister. Barbara leaves close family friends George Baker, Regina Bolduc and Sheila Kennedy. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Brutus.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 10:00AM in St. Michael Church in North Andover. Friends are invited to attend committal services at the Immaculate Conception Chapel Mausoleum in Lawrence.
