Obituary

Mrs. Mona Lee (Hutchinson) Blake, of Portsmouth, R.I., and formerly of Taunton, died Monday, July 18 in Newport Hospital, Newport, R.I. following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Theodore Czech and the late David Wendell Blake. She was born 80 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Leon Perra and the late Mildred Hutchinson. She was educated in Taunton and had been a Portsmouth resident for several years. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a dietician for the former Paul A. Dever State School for a number of years. Mona Lee was also employed at Stop and Shop Supermarkets and at Forest Farms Nursing Home in Portsmouth, R.I. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was an active participant at the Portsmouth Senior Center, including dancing and playing with the Whist, Pitch and Canasta card playing groups. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, and especially her friendships with others. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Taunton, where she taught Sunday School, and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth.

She leaves: 1 son: Atty. John D. Blake and his wife, Joan of Berkley; 3 daughters: Linda Jean Maguire and her late husband, Paul of E. Taunton, ADA Commissioner Nancilee Lemaire and her husband, Michael of Taunton, and Wendy Lee Blake-Rodrigues and her husband, Thomas of Halifax; 1 stepson: Theodore Czech, Jr. and his wife, Betty Ann of Portsmouth, R.I.; 1 brother: Lyle Perra and his wife, Janet of Cranston, R.I.; a brother-in-law: Alden H. Blake and his wife Carol Ann of Concord, N.H.; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mona Lee was also the grandmother of the late Jennifer Desrosiers and the sister of the late Leona Weeden, both of Taunton.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 111 High Street, Taunton, on Saturday, July 30 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow in the Walker-Blake Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Friday, July 29 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
