Medical Lab Technician for Mayo Medical Lab
TEWKSBURY: Wendy J. (Bowers) Hegarty, age 53, a resident of Tewksbury for 25 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Hospital on Saturday, July 16, 2016.
She was the beloved wife of John F. Hegarty, with whom she celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary on June 19, 2016.
Born in Tewksbury on June 28, 1963, she was the daughter of Wayne E. Bowers of Vassalboro, ME and the late Valerie L. (Barron) Bowers.
Wendy was raised in Byram Township, New Jersey, and was very happy to have reconnected with many of her childhood friends on Facebook. She graduated from Lenape Valley Regional High School in Stanhope, NJ.
Following graduation, Wendy attended Northeastern University, where she received her B.S. Degree in Biology.
Prior to her illness, she was employed by the Mayo Medical Lab in Wilmington, MA, where she worked as a medical lab technician.
Wendy loved going to the beach, singing, cooking and the companionship of her family, friends, and her beloved dog Sparky.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by her daughter, Kerri A. Hegarty of Tewksbury, MA; her step-daughter, Jackelyn A. Hegarty of Revere; her siblings, Robyn L. Pfeffer, and Wayne E. Bowers, Jr. both of Concord, NH; also many extended family members including Ira Pfeffer, Matt Pitcher and Robert W. Barrion, Jr.
Relatives and friends will be received Saturday, July 23, from 12 Noon until 4 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury.
