WORCESTER: Robert A. Richer, 87, of 22 Outlook Drive, died Saturday, July 16, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital, after becoming ill at home. His wife of 55 years, Joan E. (Leland) Richer, died on January 21, 2007.
He leaves three sons, Robert A. Richer, Jr. and his wife Judy of Worcester, Edward J. Richer and his wife Judy of Moon Township, PA, Timothy P. Richer and his wife Therese Alexander of Concord; three daughters, Joanne M. Rice and her husband Robert of Spencer, Patricia A. Forget, with whom he lived, Elizabeth B. Ahmad of Worcester; a brother, Joseph L. Richer and his wife Frances of Boston; two sisters, Shirley Boucher of Worcester, Carol A. Bonder and her husband Zygmunt of Worcester; six grandchildren, Bobby, Bob’s primary caregiver Heather, Steven, Linah, Zachary, Jamie; two great grandsons, John Royal and Steven Royal, Jr., and several nieces and nephews. A brother, George Richer and a son-in-law, Michael Forget, both predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of the late, Joseph L. and Ellen C. (Bowler) Richer and was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School. He was a Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Bob was a technician for New England Telephone, later called NYNEX, where he worked for many years until retiring in 1991. He was a long time member of St. John's Church and the Tatnuck Square American Legion Post No. 288. He was an avid Patriots fan. He enjoyed walking, visiting Cape Cod and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a warm hearted, generous person who was always devoted to his family.
A MEMORIAL MASS will be held at 10 A.M. on FRIDAY, JULY 22, in ST. JOHN'S CHURCH, 40 Temple St. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.
