Obituary

SHERBORN: Ellie V. Anderson, age 37, a former Sherborn resident now living in San Francisco, died suddenly in New Hampshire on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. She was the devoted wife of Kartick Sekar.

Born in Boston, she was a daughter of James and Jill (Crossman) Anderson. Ellie was raised and educated in Sherborn, where her lifelong love of horseback riding was formed. After her 1997 graduation from Dover-Sherborn High School, Ellie attended Boston College prior to completing her Baccalaureate in Medical Anthropology at Santa Clara University.

Ellie was employed for many years with the University of California, Davis. She specialized in Emergency Healthcare Preparedness, creating the plan and the handbook for emergency preparedness for long term care facilities for the state of California as part of the Governor’s council. For the past many years, Ellie had been working as a consultant, educating and evaluating health care organizations throughout the country. A swimmer since her youth and a long time swim instructor, she was happy to find that she could teach swimming to youngsters at Sandy Island Family Camp on Lake Winnipesaukee this summer.

Ellie and Kartick met in California but returned to Sherborn to marry in July of 2011. They made their home in San Francisco and traveled often, eventually setting their feet on each of the continents. Among their favorites were India, Tahiti, Australia and New Zealand, much of Europe, Dubai, and most recently enjoyed an idyllic stay on the Seychelles.

She is survived by Kartick; her mother, Jill C. Anderson of Sherborn; her father, James Anderson and his wife Susan Vermazan of Newton; two sisters, Cecily R. Anderson and her husband Michael Krauthamer of Ypsilanti, MI, and Darragh Perrow and her husband Eric Lopatin of Berkeley, CA; a niece, Samantha L. Lopatin; her parents-in-law, Krishnaswamy and Ashima Sekar of Kolkata, India; brother-in-law, Krishna Sekar and his wife Mohar Chattopadhyay of San Diego, CA; and her dog Milou.

A Memorial Service will be held in Pilgrim Church, 25 South Main Street (Rte. 27) Sherborn, on Friday, July 22nd at 11:00AM. Visiting hours will be at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Thursday July 21st 5 – 8PM. Burial will be private.
