Obituary

James A. Spencer, 67, passed away on July 15, 2016 after struggling with a heart condition.

Jim grew up on the North Shore and graduated Lynnfield High School in 1967 and then North Shore Community College in January 1970. He worked in the high tech manufacturing industry until his retirement in 2015. Jim met the love of his life, Joyce, on Friday the 13th in June 1969. They married in 1972, and settled in Tewksbury in 1974 where he remained until his death.

Jim had many interests and hobbies through out his life. As a teenager he kept backyard chickens before it was cool and played bass in a band called Yesterday's Wisdom. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, car shows, model trains, and especially music. In the latter part of his life he would become known as "Jim Nasty"- a musician that wrote and performed his own songs on both guitar and keyboard.

Jim also loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a kind and loving man who happened to also have an offbeat sense of humor.

Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce (Lippert) of Tewksbury; daughter Jamie (Spencer) Bourgeois and her husband Mark of Nashua, NH; son Jay Spencer and his wife Shahla of Litchfield, NH; two beautiful grandchildren Vera and Cyrus. He will also be missed by his cats, Mandy and Rose.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Thursday, July 21, at 6 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Please Omit Flowers. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241 or to the Lowell Humane Society, 951 Broadway St., Lowell, MA 01854.
