Jackie Wayne Roberts, 81, of Louisville passed away on July 16, 2016. He was born on May 4, 1935 to the late Christine and Morgan Roberts. In 1953, he graduated from Valley High School and then received his Associates Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. In 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Buchhold, and together they build a wonderful life. In 1955, Jackie also became a member of Beechland Baptist Church where he and Carol formed many lifelong friendships. Jackie was thankful to spend much of his time lending a helping hand at Beechland. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 35 years and retired from there in 1992. After he retired, Jackie and Carol spent many winters at Seascape in Destin Florida with their snowbird friends. He was a devoted husband, father, Papaw, and friend.
Jackie is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Carol Buchhold Roberts, his son, Wayne (Nancy Koehler), his daughter, Becky (Scott Medley), and his four grandchildren Alex and Christopher Roberts and Ava and Collin Medley. Jackie is also survived by his sister, Barbara Eastridge and numerous loving family members. He is preceded in death by his brother Clifton Roberts.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 2 pm – 8pm at the funeral home.
