FALL RIVER – Antonia “Antonina” Medeiros Sousa, age 105, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Sarah Brayton Nursing Care Center with her loving family by her side. Born and raised in Santo Antonio Alem Capelas, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Medeiros and Clara de Jesus Farias. After marrying her husband, the late Mariano Sousa, she lived for many years in Capelas, São Miguel, Açores before moving to the U.S. She was also a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church.
Survivors include her children: Gabriel Sousa, Otilia Sousa Revoredo, & Cremilde Sousa Pacheco all of Fall River; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son: Mariano Sousa and many brothers and sisters.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River, MA on Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
