Obituary

Monique C. "Mona" Brady, 83, of East Stroudsburg, PA died Friday, July 15, 2016 at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of Charles T. Brady who died in 1976.
Born January 26, 1933 in Sherbrook, Canada she was the daughter of the late Roger and Alice Lappiere.

As a young girl from Canada, Mona started her career when she moved to Bridgewater, CT as a Seamstress for a small garment manufacturer.

She met her future husband while she was working at the House of Bianchi in Boston. Though she was a seamstress she had an eye for production and efficiency, while streamlining the production of wedding gowns at the House of Bianchi. In 1976 she lost her husband and was left alone with two young boys, Brian 13 and Paul 9. Nothing deterred Mona from moving forward and she took a chance and started her own business in Londonderry, NH called Londonderry Village Sportswear. She grew this business, expanded her building and at one point had two shifts working. She made clothing for companies which included, Paul Sullivan, Garland Manufacturing and others. In 1981 she sold her business wanting to spend more time with her boys. She entered the corporate world of high quality fashion quality control for companies such as Jones of New York, Leslie fay and others. She had the opportunity to travel and she did. Mona went around the world many times and visited places like Egypt, China, Ukraine, Panama, Costa Rica, England and many more. In 2001 she retired and moved to the Poconos, loving the small town of Stroudsburg. Never really retiring, she opened Alterations by Monique and became known in the area for the quality of work she did for many graduates, brides and even a few U.S. Marshals.

In 1994 she had her first granddaughter, Amanda followed in 1998 by her second granddaughter, Courtney. In 2010 she saw her family grow even more with the birth of her first grandson, Sean followed by her second grandson Patrick. She loved and cherished the time she had with her grandkids. She spent time watching them get off and on the bus and was able to attend Amanda’s graduation from Penn State University and Courtney’s graduation from Pocono Mt. West. Her grandsons spent lots of time with their Nanny and she was always ready with a treat for them when they came to visit her just down the stairs. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time working on her flower beds and planting trees with her grandsons. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved to go fishing, catching more than everyone else. She loved to ski with her boys and did so up until she was in her late 70’s. More than anything she was our Mom and we loved her dearly and we will miss her.

Surviving are two sons, Brian Brady and his wife Yufeng of East Stroudsburg and Paul Brady and his wife Christy of Blakeslee; and four grandchildren, Amanda, Courtney, Sean and Patrick Brady.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10:00am at Holy Cross Cemetery, Gilcreast Rd., Londonderry, NH. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry assisted the family with local arrangements.
