Obituary

Elder Elliotte S. Tucker, 94, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Saturday, July 16, 2016, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Frank Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, with Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. Karen Luke Jackson will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in Frank Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary one hour prior to the service.

Elder Tucker was born April 26, 1922, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Edgar L. & Willa Belle Sibley Tucker. He was a graduate of Ocilla High School. Elder Tucker served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries received while serving. Following his return home, he attended business school in Albany. For 25 years, he was the bookkeeper and land manager for Mr. Shiver at Planters Warehouse in Ocilla. He answered the call to ministry and served Primitive Baptist congregations at Frank, Spring Hill, Lake Chapel, Sturgeon Creek, and Henderson Chapel. An avid golfer, he was a member of Ocilla Country Club and enjoyed playing golf everyday, well into his 70s. He was a member of Frank Primitive Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Gwynedd Ewing Tucker of Ocilla; children and their spouses: Deborah Tucker Trantham & Al of Clallam Bay, Washington; Terry Elliotte Tucker of Ocilla, and Dale Tucker Broome & J.M. of Ocilla; grandchildren: Trey Trantham, Travis Trantham, Trent Tucker, Todd Tucker, and Della & Kyle Farmer; and two great-grandchildren: Trista Tucker and Elliotte Farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kade McClelland; four brothers; and one sister.
