Vickie Thomas Smith, 57, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Friday, July 15, 2016, at Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Union Primitive Baptist Church in Coffee County with Elder Philip Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Smith was born March 6, 1959, in Soperton, Georgia, to Paul V. Thomas and Alma Cauley Thomas. She was a graduate of Glennville High School and earned her Associates degree from Brewton-Parker. She furthered her studies at Georgia Southern College earning her Bachelors degree. She worked in the health care field, most recently as an assistant administrator at The Harris House in Fitzgerald. Vickie loved music, crafts and scrap booking and was an avid reader. She was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her parents, Elder Paul V. & Alma Thomas of Ocilla; sister, Janie & Keith Smith of Jesup, brother, Mark Thomas of Fitzgerald; several nieces; and two great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Smith.
