Obituary

Charles John Duddy, Jr., of Medway passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Paula (Zandri) Duddy.
Born in Waltham, MA he was the son of the late Charles John and Helen (Smith) Duddy.

Charlie was a 1962 cum laude graduate of Boston College earning a BS in Physics, and in 1964 a Masters of Education from BC. Charlie was hired in 1964 at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, MA by the first Headmaster, Brother Marcellus to lead the physics honor program. Charlie was among the first lay people to work in union with the original Xaverian Brothers Community and treasured his association with all of his teaching colleagues. He taught advanced Physics at Xaverian for 41 years and served as Chairman of the Science department. Charlie had a significant influence on generations of students who admired his love for teaching, his patience and his sense of humor.

When Charlie retired in 2007, he took time to enjoy hobbies including golf, reading and landscaping. He was a gifted carpenter who loved working with his hands, as well as a talented artist, creating many beautiful paintings which focus on his family visits to California where he studied and then painted the rugged waves of the Pacific Ocean.

Family was so important to Charlie. He and his brothers had a wonderful relationship, always filled with humor and laughter. Throughout their marriage, Charlie and Paula shared their love of family and visited with their children often. His devotion to his three children and their loved ones was profound. One of the highlights of his life was that his grandson Charles is named after him.

In addition to his wife Paula, he is survived by his children, Jennifer Duddy, Steven Charles Duddy and his wife Michelle, and David Michael Duddy and his Fiancee Monique Meza; his grandson Charles Francis Duddy; his brothers Paul Duddy and his wife Kathy, Philip Duddy and Roy Duddy and his wife Ruth. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.

Relatives, friends, colleagues and their children are invited to celebrate in his funeral mass Thursday, July 21 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St., Medway. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday July 20th from 4:00 – 8:00pm in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway.
