Thomas F. Healey
Retired Electro Optical Engineer

TEWKSBURY: Thomas F. Healey, age 77, a resident of Tewksbury for 48 years, passed away at home, with his family by his side on Friday, July 15, 2016.

He was the beloved husband of Geraldine R. (Angell) Healey, with whom he celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on July 9.

Born in South Boston on January 19, 1939, he was the son of the late Thomas F. Healey and the late Barbara T. (Hatch) Healey.

Tom was raised in South Boston, and graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1957.
He later attended Northeastern University, where he received an A.S. Degree in Electronics and a B.S. Degree in Industrial Technology.

In 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during peacetime until his honorable discharge on September 10, 1962.

Prior to his retirement in 1997, he was employed as an Electro Optical Engineer by the Bio-Rad Company in Cambridge, where he worked for 24 years.

Tom was a member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Lodge # 2070 as well as his Neighborhood Poker Club, which has met every Wednesday for the past 48 years.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling with his wife and family to Europe and Canada, and attending the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in South Boston.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Shelley L. Ryals and her husband Ronald of Chelmsford, Jeffrey E. Martin and his wife Jeannine of Nashua, NH, and Ginger L. Scott of Tewksbury; three brothers, Edward J. Healey and his wife Gail of Delray Beach, FL, William J. Healey of Quincy, and Richard D. Healey of Braintree; seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Jarad, Justin, Robert, Jordan, Bethany, Tanner and two great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Tom was the father of the late Arthur A. Martin, who passed away in 1994.

Calling hours are Tuesday, July 19, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 20, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
